We are holding a volunteer information session at the Mansfield RSL at 30 Highett St from 2pm to 3:30pm on Sunday 22 January.
The get-together is an opportunity for local booklovers to sign up and volunteer at their favourite events, meet authors and welcome audiences.
With the inaugural Mansfield Readers and Writers Festival just a few weeks away, the festival committee has already received dozens of expressions of interest from people who want to volunteer during the festival weekend.
Festival committee president Miriam Zolin said, “From the very start, this festival has been put together by the community, for the community. We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve been receiving, from businesses, individuals and Mansfield Shire.”
Mansfield Readers and Writers Festival takes place across two days and two nights, from the evening of Friday 3 March to the afternoon of Sunday 5 March.
There will be author talks, workshops and free events for kids and grownups.
Featuring more than 20 events and authors such as Margaret Hickey, Gabriel Bergmoser, Andrea Rowe, Jock Serong and other favourites, there is something for everyone during the weekend.
The festival welcomes volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and interests, with a range of roles available from social media assistance to checking tickets, guiding visitors to venues and helping authors get to their sessions and book signings.
Volunteers can choose to help out for just a couple of hours during the festival or start contributing immediately with one of the many jobs that needs doing in the lead up to the event.
In addition to this information session, the committee will run a volunteer orientation in February.
If you want to get involved but can’t make it to the information session why not complete an expression of interest form.
